We offer both office-based and telehealth support because we’re always ready to personalize OCD treatment for our patients. Our philosophy involves treating the whole patient and helping you create the life you wish for.

This July blog covers one of the questions we often hear: Is OCD treatable using holistic methods? The answer is a definite “yes,” and you’re about to learn how. Of course, we always welcome you to call our office or reach out online, too.

Understanding holistic principles

To understand holistic approaches to OCD, we first need to understand exactly what the word means. The American Holistic Nurses Association explains that holistic medicine looks at the whole body instead of focusing only on one specific area. The goal is optimal whole-person wellness that enables you to live a healthier, happier, and more fulfilling life.

Holistic medicine provides healing therapies based on your needs. In many cases, holistic care emphasizes natural and alternative treatments, but because it’s a whole-body approach, it can also include traditional medicine treatments. It’s all about what’s best for your health.

Our team is here for our patients and we’re strong believers in helping every person become the hero of their own adventure. We understand that mental health care isn’t a one-size-fits-all process. When you reach out to us, we tailor a plan that works for you.

Many of our patients prefer a more natural approach whenever possible, and our holistic philosophy embraces that and helps you reach your wellness goals at the same time.

Holistic OCD treatments

There are many unique treatment options for OCD, and we offer a full spectrum of choices here at Owl & Eagle Health And Wellness. Some of the most effective holistic therapies for OCD include:

Counseling and psychotherapy

Counseling and psychotherapy offer an all-natural way to understand and manage your OCD effectively. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), on its own or with medication management, is a leading treatment for OCD, according to the International OCD Foundation.

The American Psychological Association (APA) agrees, calling a specific type of CBT known as exposure and response prevention (ERP) the “gold standard” for OCD treatment.

In addition, other methods, such as relaxation techniques and meditation, may help.

Our team can guide you and support you through office visits or telehealth. We’re here to provide whole-person health care in the way that works best for our patients.

TMS

Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a holistic therapy that’s highly successful in OCD management. With Brainsway Deep TMS, the first FDA-cleared noninvasive OCD treatment, painless magnetic impulses stimulate neurons in the deep part of the brain. These neurons are those that are affected by OCD.

The impulses help the neurons remodel and also encourage the release of neurotransmitters important for mental wellness, including dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine.

Brainsway Deep TMS has remarkable results for many people with OCD.

Studies collectively show that more than 70% of OCD patients responded to deep TMS, and more than 50% experienced sustained results after about a month of treatments. Clinical response is measured by a greater than 30% reduction in symptoms. Multiple studies have established it as a safe treatment for OCD sufferers.

Along with these methods of OCD treatment, we offer many other approaches. At Owl & Eagle Health And Wellness, our team won’t rest until we help you find the ideal approach and get you back to the life you deserve.
